Atrio-ventricular coupling in patients with transposition of the great arteries after atrial switch by Magnetic Resonance Imaging

چکیده
Background Diastolic function has been little explored in d-transposition of the great arteries palliated by atrial switch (d-TGA). However, early detection of diastolic dysfunction could be of major clinical interest and could explain clinical status in this population. We aimed: 1/ to characterize diastolic function in d-TGA after atrial switch from velocity encoded cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) data and 2/ to study associations between diastolic function indices and objective measurements of clinical status evaluated by exercise test.

Patients after atrial switch operation for transposition of the great arteries can not increase stroke volume under dobutamine stress as opposed to patients with congenitally corrected transposition.
BACKGROUND Patients after atrial switch operation for transposition of the great arteries have limited exercise performance. Rigid atrial baffles may cause a relative preload reduction. Previous studies have had suboptimal control groups, which ideally should consist of patients with congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (ccTGA) without previous heart surgery, having a syst...
متن کاملAccuracy and Inter observer variability of blood flow quantification on 4D flow MRI in adult with transposition of the great arteries corrected by arterial switch
Background 4D flow magnetic resonance imaging appears as a reliable tool for blood flow quantification. However, in patients with transposition of the great arteries corrected by arterial switch, the choice of a high velocity encoding (venc) to avoid velocity aliasing due to pulmonary stenosis, could decrease the accuracy of blood flow quantification in vessels such as superior or inferior vena...
متن کاملUtility of speckle tracking echocardiography in measuring systemic right ventricular systolic function for patients with d-transposition of the great arteries status post atrial switch procedure: a comparison with cardiac magnetic resonance imaging
Background Patients with d-transposition of the great arteries (D-TGA), status post atrial switch, are at risk for developing systemic right ventricular (RV) dysfunction. Echocardiographic (Echo) assessment of RV function is subjective because complex RV geometry does not allow accurate determination of ejection fraction (EF). RVEF measured by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the gol...
متن کاملRole of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Postoperative Follow-Up After the Arterial Switch Operation for Transposition of the Great Arteries.
Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (MR) plays a major role in the evaluation of patients with transposition of the great arteries, especially during follow-up after surgical intervention such as the arterial switch operation (ASO). It is recommended in recent guidelines that cardiovascular MR should be integrated in the routine evaluation of all postoperative patients with transposition of the g...
متن کاملLate Atrio-ventricular Block After Arterial Switch for D-transposition of the Great Vessels With Intact Interventricular Septum
Arterial switch operation for transposition of the great arteries without ventricular septal defect usually does not lead to atrio-ventricular conduction disturbances. We discuss the case of a young boy presenting with first and second degree supra hisian atrio-ventricular block late after switch operation.
